# The Ever Changing Order of Stories in Clinical Trials

over cocktails and mocktails

Bring your best story about a study that changed after it was designed. We'll bring the drinks. No slides, no pitches, just people who design, plan, run and price trials, swapping notes at a bar in Sant Antoni.

Schedule of Assessments

## The plan, _subject to amendment_

| Time | Visit | What happens |
| -------- | ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 17:30 | Visit 1 | First guest in. Walk over from the InterContinental, follow the dots. |
| 17:45 | Visit 2 | First round. Cocktails, mocktails or a glass of something natural. |
| 18:15 | Deviation | Someone mentions change orders. We let it happen. |
| 18:40 | Amendment 1 | “One more” is added to the schedule. Nobody files the paperwork. |
| 19:00ish | Soft lock | Officially, the end. Rosa is open until 23:00, and nobody is counting. |

Icebreakers, fully sourced

## Why the order of stories _keeps changing_

76%

of protocols needed at least one substantial amendment.

Mean of 3.3

substantial amendments per amended protocol, up 60% in seven years.

260 days

on average from amendment need to the last oversight approval. Sites run mixed protocol versions for about 215 days.
