Why we are building Cori Clinical

# Give the time back to the science.

Too often, trial teams repeat work their organisation has already done. Disconnected processes, siloed teams and untraced decisions add delays before new treatments reach patients.

Clinical trial start-up still relies on fragmented processes and disconnected sources of information, making it difficult for teams to apply relevant precedent and assess the wider implications of early design decisions. The cost of getting those early decisions wrong is significant: Tufts CSDD research found that 76% of protocols are amended,[1](https://www.cori-clinical.com/about#footnote-1) with each substantial amendment carrying direct costs of around $141,000 for a Phase II protocol and $535,000 for Phase III.[2](https://www.cori-clinical.com/about#footnote-2) Amended protocols are also associated with longer recruitment and overall study durations.

Researchers set out to advance science, then spend the week carrying each decision by hand into every document it touches. Cori is built to give time back to the science, so no patient waits for science that's ready.

## Where the time goes

Protocol, consent form and budget kept as separate documents

One design change re-typed through everything it touches

Medical, regulatory and operations working from separate copies

Scientific staff spending their weeks on documentation

Trial startup taking longer than the science needs

About Cori Clinical

## Clinical development deserves better.

Behind every clinical trial that starts late, a patient is waiting for the treatment.

Cori Clinical is the intelligence layer for accelerating clinical trials, creating a living blueprint of a trial from initial idea through to first participant in. Its unified workspace turns a clinical team's collective insight and organisational experience, enriched with trusted external intelligence, into a single, shared source for all clinical and commercial teams.

Cori surfaces and structures the evidence, while clinical teams retain responsibility for judgement and approval. Less time is lost to reconciling data, documents and version conflicts, so more time is available for the decisions that move a trial forward.

No patient waits for science that's ready. That's the reason Cori exists.

Leadership

## The people you will work with.

- Co-founder & CEO
### Jorn Jansen Schoonhoven
Co-Founder and CEO of Cori Clinical, created to bring AI efficiencies to one of healthcare's most outdated workflows: clinical development. He previously led data science teams at Amazon and IBM, where he also served as Chief of Staff for EMEA. After investing in AI startups at Octopus Ventures, he founded Cori to apply what he'd seen work across industries to the critical bottlenecks in clinical trials.
- Co-founder & CTO
### Patricio Fernandez Weisson
With over 10 years of experience in AI and previously Data Science Director at Evinova (AstraZeneca), and Lead Data Scientist at Sanofi. He started Cori Clinical after seeing firsthand how much time and talent is wasted on manual, repetitive work in clinical trials, and how little of AI's potential is reaching the people who need it. Cori is his way of fixing that: practical AI tools, built for the teams that need it the most.
- Chief Clinical Officer
### Emma Ogburn, PhD
20+ years of experience in global clinical trials with industry, academia, all trial types, phases and therapeutic areas. Emma has scaled a number of organisations, most notably University of Oxford CTU (leading the UK Government's National COVID-19 trials), Cancer Research UK Trial Acceleration and most recently a tech-enabled CRO, Lindus Health. Passionate about using tech and novel methods to get treatments to patients faster.

FAQ

## Good to know.

### What is Cori, and how does it help clinical trial teams?

Cori Clinical is an AI workspace which brings together the knowledge an organisation has developed through years of clinical trial experience and combines it with external intelligence from clinical-trial registries, regulatory guidance and public sources including Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Cori helps clinical teams turn an initial trial brief into a full protocol, submission package and operational plans, built against current regulatory guidance. Rather than addressing a single document or workflow, Cori helps teams build and maintain a living blueprint for a feasible and executable trial.

As new guidance is published, Cori builds it into the workspace and flags the risks and decisions that matter for a trial's success. This enables teams to test proposed designs against both their own experience and the wider evidence base, identify risks, assess options and connect study-design decisions with budgets, timelines and operational plans.

Cori's AI surfaces and structures the evidence, while clinical teams retain responsibility for judgement and approval. Less time is lost to reconciling data, documents and version conflicts, so more time is available for the decisions that move a trial forward.

Cori works with biotechs, CROs and research institutions, backed by operators in life sciences and AI, to help clinical teams move faster, stay aligned and raise quality without compromising compliance. So no patient waits for science that's ready.

### Which types of clinical trial documents does Cori support?

Across the documentation of trial startup, with each artefact kept consistent with the others:

- Study protocols and protocol amendments
- Investigator brochures
- Informed consent forms (ICFs)
- Case report forms (CRFs)
- Clinical study reports (CSRs)
- Common Technical Document (CTD) modules for regulatory submissions
- Site and sponsor communications

### How does Cori integrate with existing workflows and systems?

Cori fits the processes you already run:

- Flexible document import and export, working with Word, PDF and regulatory submission formats
- Microsoft Word add-in, so you can edit documents directly with Cori
- Collaboration tools to assign tasks, track changes and manage approvals within your team

### How does Cori help with regulatory requirements?

Cori is built to align with FDA, EMA, ICH-GCP and local requirements. It pulls the relevant guidance for each document, flags missing elements, and shows where the protocol and the participant-facing materials disagree. The judgement belongs to your regulatory team; Cori shows them what to look at. Cori Clinical holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification and complies with the GDPR and the EU AI Act. HIPAA is supported under a Business Associate Agreement, and 21 CFR Part 11 support is in progress.

### Is Cori secure, and how is data protected?

Yes. The controls that back that up:

- AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 and 1.3 in transit
- None of your data is used to train models, under a zero data retention policy
- Role-based permissions to restrict document access
- Audit logs, so every action is tracked and attributable
- Cloud infrastructure monitored continuously for threats and anomalies
